It's almost twenty-eleven...

What are you going to do?
Do you play the "word of the year" game?
I usually try, but can't remember what my word was last year........
I have one for this year.....we'll see how it turns out.
I actually found it around October of twenty10 and knew it was my word.

COMMIT
What's yours?

I would love to hear more about it!

Eleven days of Giveaways!

Seriously! How much fun is this?
I want to do this all the time. Do you?

I love jewelry. When Making Memories came out with the Vintage Groove line, I wanted it ALL! I got a ton of it and made a ton of jewelry! It was so fun mixing it with vintage stuff I found in antique stores, like Southern Accents, and my Mom's jewelry box! She didn't mind as long as I was making new stuff for her! I even went on the Talk of Alabama show and did a segment to show how easy and fun it is to make your own jewelry. I still have a ton of stuff. I'm thinking I might have a party! You come over and pick out all the stuff you like and we make a necklace....sounds fun, right?

In order to win this necklace, I need you to tell me if you would want to come to a party like that!
You can tell me if you wouldn't want to come and I will still put your name in the hat to win! (I promise)

10th Day of Giveaways!!

Hanging out at my Mom's tonight and my brother offered to give away a Scrabble match with him....any takers? It was his first win, EVER! He was proud. I declined the offer.
I do have this cute tree that I made! I've been making a lot of these little trees. You might remember seeing the crosses I make several months ago. Well, you may not have seen them. I only posted once in that month and not too much after!!

this photo was a bit blurry, but it was the whole tree. The one below is a little closer view and you can see the texture better, too.

I need to make sure you are reading this little post each day and not just posting the same things everyday!! It would be easy to do that!!

Does Santa wrap your gifts or leave them open? Let me know and you will have a chance to win this original piece of art!!

It's the 8th day of giveaways!!

Today's giveaway is very special to me. I found this little artist about 11 years ago. She has expressed so much interest in art and has really blossomed! She has sold many pieces and offered to do something for one of my blog readers! I'm so excited to introduce to you, my daughter, Emma Farmer!
She has graciously donated this adorable elf painting. It is 11x14.

She is also selling these paintings to raise money for our Christmas Angel. He wants a bike and we just don't have the funds to get that! We have just about everything else on his list! We adopted this angel from The Boys Ranch with our cousins. We have been trying to raise a little money to get his bike. So far, we have about $100. He is 16 years old. Let us know if you are interested in buying a painting. They are $15. Emma can change the haircolor to look just like yours!

You can win THIS painting just by telling us if Elves come to your house. If so, are they nice or naughty? Ours started out naughty, they've gotten a lot nicer now!

On the 7th day of Christmas my true love gave to me.....

Sing it with me......7 Swans a swimming! I'm not giving away 7 swans...but, if I did, would you want them? They might look nice swimming in the pool outside. I don't think they could handle the cold weather we've been having.
Today's giveaway is something you can stay inside and cuddle with! One of my dear friends, Gay and her sister, Dinah started a business together. They create these beautiful pillows. All are handmade and have so much character.

It started when we were young collecting special “treasures.”  It is something we always loved.  Dinah went by way of Tuscaloosa and The University of Alabama, Tampa and Charlotte.  Gay traveled to Louisiana and back to The Southern Institute, School of Interior Design.  While raising our families we continued collecting and loving beautiful textiles and “little things.”  Gay has spent years perfecting her craft in designing beautiful rooms in and around Birmingham and at the beach. Dinah has been raising her children and volunteering in Nashville.
It was time!  Through the snow we were on a fun trip to Scotts in Atlanta and ran into David Lentjes and the company was decided. With Rozelle’s pillows sitting on our beds and in our living rooms, the business came to us.  It would be fine linen pillows and lots and lots of them.  Every one made with loving care and available to you. We are having so much fun designing our collection and hope you will enjoy them too.
The Giveaway for today is this gorgeous pillow! Don't you love the tiny buttons going down the middle? It is so soft and cuddly. I took this picture on the bed swing on my back porch. Yeah, it looks pretty great there! I need to get one for myself!

All you need to do is go to their website to see all the gorgeous pillows they have created. They have some unbelievable stockings and a tree skirt that is to die for!
Let me know your favorite item on their site and come back here to comment!

They only sell to the trade. Lucky for you, you might win one today!  They are in the Old Town Christmas Market and you can find them in several stores online. This Saturday is the last weekend for the market....There are some great gift items there!

6th Day of Giveaways! The Shops at 3rd Street Promenade

Working in Cullman has given me lots of new connections. I love meeting new friends and networking! Taking great talents and putting them together. Everyone wins! Stacie has a shop called The Shops at 3rd Street Promenade. It is a really cool place. She, her husband and another couple opened "The Shops" a little over a year ago. They have numerous artists from around the state of Alabama showcased. They also have art nights! I love art night. I think you all know that!
As a matter of fact, there was an Art Night last night! Never fear, there is another art night for kids on December 16th! It's the cutest snowman! You can sign up here..

This is a handcrafted piece of art created by Lamar Jeffries from Birmingham, Alabama. It is a smoked cross, made from clay and has a leather hanger.  The cross is actually an imprint from a wooden carved cross and is 5 3/4 in x 6 1/4 in. This beautiful piece is valued at $25.00

Taken from the website of The Shops at 3rd Street Promenade:
Our goal is to provide a fun, unique experience to our customers and to encourage, promote and support local and regional artists.  In July 2009, a business model for The Shops at 3rd Street Promenade was born.  It included supporting artists but also the community.  Upon completion of the business model, it was quickly realized what skill sets were needed in an individual to be our partner.  There are many talented artists in the area that do not have the opportunities or outlets for the amazing work they produce.  We immediately began contacting artisans possessing the skills needed to make this happen.  These ideas were quickly grasped with tremendous enthusiasm!  Promenade has gone beyond the original boundaries of Cullman and now includes Birmingham, Huntsville, Nashville, Hartselle and Oneonta.  We provide a beautiful, historic space in downtown Cullman where artists from all over the South can display and sell their work.  We focus mainly on original, handcrafted items such as paintings, photography, pottery, furniture, clay and metal sculpture, and wood work.  Offered is a vast array of work at prices that allow everyone to join the effort of supporting these artists.  It is an honor to have a chance to connect with them, contribute to their success and give Cullman something new and different to enjoy.
Giveaway!!
One lucky blog reader will get this beautiful piece of art!

All you have to do is tell me if you have all of your shopping done.....or not!

These are a few of my favorite things.....

I have been looking forward to this for a month!!! I hope you have, too! I have been talking to all of my friends and gathering my favorite things to give away to you, my favorite blog readers!!

One of my favorite places to buy a gift is The Spotted Zebra. If you didn't already know, my sisters own the shop and I get to go to market to buy all the fabulous things in the store! It is so much fun and I love to go in after everything is delivered and help set it up! Christmas is the most fun. We close the store for 2 days and turn it into a Santa's workshop! It is magical. The 2nd night, we always have an Open House and invite everyone to join in the festivities. It is crazy full of beautiful things and shoppers! This year, we had a special for the shoppers. If you spend $100, you get one of these crosses for FREE!! All I have to say is we ran out of crosses! Lucky for you, they got more and gave me one to give away here!!
So all you have to do is go to the Spotted Zebra's Facebook page and "like" them. Come back here and tell me one of the things on your Christmas list this year!

Taking the old and making it new!

This is the best! I opened up the Christmas closet last week......It's FULL of different holiday decorations! I love to decorate for the holidays! Christmas is my favorite! I love anything red and white striped and anything red and green! We have been in this house for 5 Christmases and I was worried that I would be tired of the same old decorations! Oh no, I pulled out all those rubbermaid bins and opened them all up. I love all of my "old" decorations! They all have memories and they all feel fresh. Do you feel that way about yours? It's just all so fabulous! Well, I think so, anyway! I saw a little discussion on this blog the other day. Do you ever read The Stories of AtoZ? She did a fun little post about the upside down Christmas tree and there were some pretty bad comments on there. I don't understand what they don't like about this beauty? I mean, it's not like it's my only tree! It's the fun one! So fun and I love it no matter what all of those hundreds of ladies said! haha!

I did move it to a different corner, same room, different corner. That's a change! All the decorations on it are the same. I did re-do the mantel! I can't even remember what the mantel looked like last year. I think I just left everything that was up there and added a few Christmasy items.

This year, I took it all down and started with a clean slate! Don't you love a clean slate? So, I've had this little window for quite some time. I bought it when we moved Scrap ETC a few years ago. It was in the store the whole time we were open. I was offered cash money for it several times. Sorry, it's a keeper! Well, it's been in the garage for over a year. I've been inspired by this girl, The Lettered Cottage, to change up the mantel every once in a while. I went down into that creepy garage and pulled this loveliness down and brought it up the stairs. I couldn't get it up on the mantel by myself. Had to have a little help from my muscle man. He thinks I'm crazy........hehe.

I love the way it turned out. I am in love with Penny McAllister's Christmas collection. I started collecting several years ago. I think I have enough now.....I have a problem with wanting every piece! All of the elves, santas and reindeer are Penny McAllister.
Of course, I bought all of it from The Spotted Zebra!
That polka dot ribbon has been rolled up and not used for several years. I know, crazy, right? I adore it. Every year,  I unroll it and try to find a place to use it. I guess I could've wrapped up some gifts, but I couldn't part with it.  So selfish!! As soon as I found it this year, I knew where it would go! I love how it turned out! Those red sparkly balls used to be on my "big" tree. They just kinda were stuck here and there. They matched those green trees so well, I knew they had a new home! Emma and John Connor were big helpers this year! They love to decorate for Christmas. That means the Elves will come!

There is a little sad news about the artist that creates these beautiful pieces. She died earlier this year. I was so upset when I heard. She was battling cancer and died in March at the age of 56. So, this mantel is in her honor! I feel so lucky to have some of her pieces.

Be watching in the next few days! I am starting a 12 Days of Giveaways! I will be giving away some of my favorite things!! There will be several ways to enter and I have lots of friends that are joining the party! I can't wait to show you the yummies!
