If you are an avid reader of this blog.......well, you have been out of luck the past few months! Alas, I am back! You well know that I love the beach. There really aren't words to describe how much I long to be there all the time. I would move there. Seriously. We went for the weekend. It was so relaxing and the weather was so gorgeous! High seventies and no clouds. NONE! I had a bit of a cold and was pretty miserable because I couldn't breathe on Friday. I started feeling much better as soon as I saw the view from the boardwalk. Ahhh, I love those navy blue umbrellas against the sea of turquoise! It's so breathtaking!
I am always on the go. I never just stay at home and do nothing. Coming to the beach is that time for us. We are not at home, but we have no worries at the beach! Our little cottage is so small and it is easy to keep up. We just lounge around and do NOTHING! I guess that's why I like it. We can sit on the beach and read a book or people watch.....or dig a hole to China! That is the kids favorite thing to do! I love this picture of John Connor. Head down and feet up. He's trying his best to get there! They did dig deep enough for Emma to put in a chair and take a nap.

It's a Blog....you are supposed to write in it!

I have been enlightened over the past week. Several things have occurred to create this enlightenment. I got a new job! It's the job I've been looking for. I can work from home, I'm passionate about it and I get paid! That hasn't happened in many, many years! I am thankful for the opportunity!
If we are friends on Facebook, you have seen my numerous posts about Southern Accents. It's an architectural salvage store in Cullman, Al. They are Alabama's version of American Pickers. You know, the show on The History Channel? I know....I love it!! They are constantly buying and selling beautiful architectural pieces. I will drive up to the store and get so inspired. I've used lots of things for my creations from the store. I also bought a ton of different pieces when I was building my house. Well, they have asked me to be their Marketing Director! They have kept me very busy in the last month! We are working on revamping their website and they have had numerous articles written up about them in the past month. I have had my hands full! It has been a blast.......so far!
Of course, I am talking to Brittney this whole time. She is helping to get all the ideas out and down on paper. It's amazing how she can help me do that. She just helps me clear my mind and at the same time, create more and more ideas! We could rule the world....I just know it! We've solved many of the worlds problems in these brainstorming moments. So, if you read her blog, you know that she is constantly blogging, giving away great things and keeping up with her family! I love to read her stuff. She was going to a blogger meet-up last Friday and invited me to go. I knew it was something I needed to do and really wanted to do! I knew there would be some new connections and I would learn from the experience. Not to mention, Lisa Leonard would be there! Hello? Do you know her? She makes this awesome jewelry and she was coming to Birmingham for Talk of Alabama to tape an upcoming show! Yes, that's my show! I love Nicole. She is so cute. There were cupcakes and networking. Perfect.
I met a couple of new friends and met someone from my tennis life! Small world, isn't it? Amanda Green of KevinandAmanda was a hostess and the cutest thing. Rhoda of Southernhospitalityblog is into home decor.....yes, I'm sending her to Southern Accents! She is going to love it! Alison Lewis of Ingredientsinc.net and I started playing tennis around the same time. We both knew we knew each other.....just couldn't figure out how. Tennis. She doesn't play anymore. She is super busy with her ingredients inc company! It is really cool. I'm going to get her out on the tennis court soon. You can't just give it up!!
So, all this has peaked my interest in blogging. I've been reading blogs non-stop since Friday. It's just a fun way to keep in touch and get all that interesting (or not) stuff out for the world to see! I always say that I love to soak up information and I love to share it. I need to be sharing more. I hope you will stick around and let me share with you!

April Recap
I guess I get inspired about once a month! No, really I am inspired so much everyday and I can't sit down to record it! I have been a little busy. Working on new projects and closing out old ones. Spring is definitely here in Alabama. I am sitting on my back porch listening to John Mayer and the blower! HA! We have a couple coming over to look at our house for the 5th, yes FIFTH time tomorrow! Do you think they like it? Gah, make up your mind already!
I have been watching the new show 9byDesign....oh MY word! It's fantastic! Find it on Bravo....I am totally ready to move and re-do a house! I really want to build another one. That will have to wait. I will miss this house a lot. There are so many things that are one of a kind and I will be sad to let them go. On the other hand, I can't wait to find more one of a kind things to put in a new place! I love creating and decorating and redecorating and recreating!
John Connor is mid season of baseball. Much better record than last year! Thank goodness!!! We won last night! Go Cubs! Emma is on a Tumbling and Trampoline team and is upside down all the time.
I'm itching to go to the beach. Seriously, it's been like 2 weeks! We had a girls weekend....Emma, Maggie, Daphney and myself.
The boys went to the A-Day game in Tuscaloosa. John Connor is a lucky kid! He got to go in the locker room with Michael after the game and got an autograph from lots of players!! He had his picture made with Greg McElroy, Preston Dial and Michael DeJohn. I think there are others, but my Mother in law is holding them hostage until I send her pictures from the National Championship game......oops! I should send her those now!
We went to Nashville last weekend and ran in the Country Music 1/2 Marathon. So. much. fun! It was my favorite of all time! haha....of the 3 that I've ran. My sweet friend and little sister, Jenny was our hostess for the weekend! She showed us a fabulous Nashville time. So many funny moments and inside jokes! We had the best cheese plate at Virago, Jenny's favorite sushi place in town, using lots of common sense and catching a prayer in Memphis! Don't forget the perv waving at Jenny at The Stage! Even walking to the car was one of my favorite moments! Everyone got a medal and we are all still friends!
We had a house full! Jenny, Molly, Daphney, myself, Connor and John were all over her house.........not to mention her room mate and her parents! Oh and 3 dogs. Close, comfy quarters for good friends and fun times!
John Connor and I went to the zoo for his field trip last week. That kid loves animals! He is going to be a squirrel monkey at the talking zoo for school next week. I had no idea we had one of those at the Birmingham zoo! His two great friends, Connor and Ryan hung out with us all day.
I loved chasing after those 3 monkeys. John Connor was on the move to the next animal and Connor wanted to learn more about each animal!
Last, but not least, a little project I've been working on.
They would make great Mother's Day gifts or graduation. Some have inspiring quotes on them. Let me know what you think!

Book Art Dresses
I'm so excited about this Friday night. I am going to Tricia Robinson's Art Night.....at her house! I have been following her blog for several years. She is an artist that paints the cutest things ever! She is always inspiring me with her fun, frolicky paintings!
So, she has opened her home for a Book Dress Art Party!! Doesn't it sound divine? I can't wait to get there and just be in the same room with her! We are to bring one of our favorite books. We will tear it apart and make a dress inspired by that book......oh, I am so distraught over what book and what my dress will look like. It's so intimidating! There are several examples on her blog. You have to go there and peruse her artwork. I know you will love it as much as I do.
Did you see this blog post on the Scripts blog? I was very inspired by her. I gave that painting to my beautiful friend, Jenny. She put it in her bedroom. I love the fact that she uses paper and paint all on one place. I love the texture all of her paintings have. I can not wait to be there and learn from her.
Watch her blog....She said she will do another art night. We should all go together!

In the mood for a blog post?
I just looked at the site meter on my blog and it said 11 people visited today. Wow, I'm so sorry to you! I haven't posted once this year! Slacker.........
I'm not sure if I've had too much going on or nothing! I'm sure if you read this thing....ever.....you know the answer!
Why don't I just do like I do scrapbooking. Not try to "catch-up", just tell you what's going on now.
My mom was just here this past weekend. It was gorgeous! We always have a beautiful weekend in February. I remember the year I got married.....1996....yes, that was 14 years ago. (My anniversary is Wednesday ;)). Connor had the best tan at the wedding! All the guys played golf that Friday and it was such a pretty day! It was the perfect weekend! This weekend reminded me of that weekend so much!
Mom came to celebrate my birthday, see Carson play basketball and go to Caroline's 4th birthday party. We were busy! We always have to plan a visit to The Spotted Zebra to see all the wonderful things Nicole and Natalie have in the store. My mom always buys too much! Oh well, that's one of the reasons I love her! (thanks, MOM!)
John Connor is working on his Living History Museum for school. He will be Albert Einstein. I can't wait to fix his hair that morning! He has been working on his speech. It is such a fun event. The kids are standing in different places in the classroom and someone walks up and pushes their "button". When the button is pushed the child will recite their speech. Cute, huh? Baseball started this weekend, too. Good bye, Saturdays!!
Emma got layers and long bangs. Oh my word! We were at the salon for an hour and a half. I think the girl was nervous. She looks so much older! She came home from Jessie's house tonight and they had straightened it with the flat iron. She was flipping it around. So cute and getting so grown up! I know....pictures are needed for that. I will try and take some tomorrow!
I ran in the Mercedes 1/2 marathon on Valentine's Day. I was so proud to run with Brittney and her sister, Kristin! They kept me going strong! We finished at 2:13:23. Rock Stars! I never could have run that fast by myself! I loved the whole thing. We had a very strong finish. I was so excited! Connor ran in the Relay for cute little Edie Shunnarah. We were all on her Bell Center Team. It was a fun event. I can't wait to do it again next year!
That's just a little recap of the latest goings on at the Farmer house.
